Hoam Museum of Art

The renewal of Hoam Museum of Art was led by creative director Kuho Jung with Sungran Lee of Yi Architects. Our part was the lobby — reorganising it, and adding an information desk and a lounge for visitors.

While we were preparing, we happened to hear the landscape architect Youngsun Jung, who made the museum’s garden, speak at an exhibition. She said the beauty of a garden lies in where you begin, which path you take, what view you meet along the way, and which turn of weather happens to greet you.

She was speaking about gardens. We heard something else in it — a way of describing a life. Moving through four seasons at Hoam, we thought a great deal about the paths we take, the postures we hold, and what it means to breathe alongside whatever happens to arrive.
