Alkov

The Story
Alkov shows vintage furniture and twentieth-century design gathered by an eye of its own.
In April 2020, while the pandemic was changing the shape of everyone’s days, we began thinking about where Alkov should live next.
The pieces Alkov keeps carry time and story inside them. In things made long ago and looked after well, you can still feel the hands they passed through. Different cultural grounds, the particular character of each designer, and then the touch and the taste of whoever used them.
Looking at these, we thought about what kind of beauty survives time, and about which values actually matter in a life. About the things that shine inside our own present. About what has been preserved while much else changed. And about the lives and warm memories that will be handed forward.
We wanted to write something about that beauty and that warmth continuing, and about finding a new future out of them.
So we planned Alkov’s rooms this way. New things should not shine alone, but feel as though they had always belonged. What the space gives should be classical rather than contemporary; warm and human rather than refined and arresting.
A warm room that tells a story of people, of space, and of the scenery of a life. That is the Alkov we imagined.
