Metallurgy : Great Wisdom

Metallurgy — the working of metal. Its history has run alongside our own, from the plainest means of survival to expression made for its own sake. Because it is a craft of handling metal, it asks a great deal of labour and patience from the person making it.

Among the works gathered here, the ones showing the most precise, the most delicate, or the most overwhelming craft and scale share something. A desire to examine something, and to say it.

It might have been aimed at a religion, or at the self, or simply at the need to put something of one’s own into the world. Whatever it was, some particular force inside a person drew it out until it could be seen.
