Liberation and then war took a great deal from us. Still, carrying will and romance, people stood up out of the ruins. And into a country where the memory and the culture of the past remained, new things poured in.

A period in which Western goods and culture, arriving as life and culture modernised, were made native to Korean feeling — and out of that, a modern style of our own was reinterpreted.

Out of plain curiosity and plain pleasure, people were unafraid to express themselves. They opened their own era, actively and on their own terms. An age of romance.

Taking the rooms of that period as our motif — their romance and their practicality — we set out to give Beanpole a new space. So that we might open our own era in the same way, on the ground of our memory and the culture that came before.
