‘한 그릇의 식사를 하는 집’ 이란 뜻의 이곳은 우리의 식사에 대한 고민이 담겨있다. 식사는 단순히 끼니를 채우는 것을 넘어 사람 간의 유대를 쌓는 시간이다. ‘함께’ 라는 뜻이 있는 ‘同’ 이라는 글자처럼 정성을 다해 준비한 한 그릇, 그리고 손님과 주인이 함께 할 수 있는 공간. 옥동식은 우리의 바쁜 일상 속에서 잊고 있었던 식사의 의미를 다시 한번 생각할 수 있는 곳이다.

This small restaurant with single-menu became the hottest new restaurant in Seoul 2017. Chef Okdongsik has managed to single-handedly change any preconceptions the local diners previously had about the hearty pork soup-and-rice dish Koreans hold near and dear to their hearts. Through a bowl of pork-soup prepared with all sincerity, we wanted people to think the meaning of ‘meal’ again. Just as the name means “a house to eat together,” people can talk, eat, and enjoy together in this concentrated space.
